A Message from Mr Salisbury
Dear Parents, Whānau, and Friends,
Welcome back to the new year!
I hope you all had a relaxing Christmas and New Year. A special welcome to our new students and their whānau. Harrisville is a fantastic school with wonderful staff who genuinely care and are dedicated to seeing all our students succeed. Most importantly, we strive to foster a love of learning in every child. We are also fortunate to have fantastic students who are eager to learn and a supportive community of parents who value education.
We have lots happening over the next few weeks so please read our newsletter, check our online calendar and Hero App for notices to remain informed.

I am pleased to share that we are fully staffed for 2025. We warmly welcome Emma Peters, who will be teaching in Room 6, and Jessie Hirst, who is returning as the teacher in Room 9. Additionally, Annette Van Brakel has rejoined us to support students with Structured Literacy.
We begin the year with exciting upgrades and advancements, including:
- Classroom renovations in Rooms 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6.
- Upgraded switchboards and the addition of hot water to all school toilets.
- A brand-new website featuring an updated newsletter format, an events calendar, and key information for families.
- The Hero student management system, providing timely updates and online reporting on student progress.
- Enhancements to our school hall, including new honours boards, an upgraded stage, and a modern sound system.
- AED installation
- Renovations nearing completion for the junior toilet block.
These improvements reflect our continued commitment to enhancing both our facilities and communication for the benefit of our school community.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported and contributed to these projects. We appreciate the flexibility and resilience of our staff and students as classrooms were temporarily relocated. Our team has worked incredibly hard over the holidays to ensure classrooms are ready for your children.
Your efforts have been instrumental in making these upgrades possible, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on our students and their families.
Ngā mihi,
Mr Salisbury
